This month's EP features the repertoire of Danish fiddler Rasmus Storm, born in 1733 on the island of Funden. Very little is known about him, but his notebook of tunes, compiled around 1760 represents one of the oldest sources of Danish traditional music. Since our primary source for this EP was this sheet music with very little information about performance practice, we have interpreted these tunes for dances in the modern Balfolk tradition.
In the absence of an actual photograph or even a contemporary illustration of Rasmus Storm, John's artwork for this EP is a reinterpretation of the elegant pattern on his famous notebook.
